Teaching English to Future Church Leaders at Baltic Pastoral Institute

By Baltic Pastoral Institute

About us

Pastoral Training Program at Baltic Pastoral Institute (BPI) is seeking people who are willing to help the future church leaders to improve their English language skills.

The BPI Pastoral Training Program trains, equips and resources carefully selected Christian leaders to preach the Gospel, plant and lead missional churches in strategic places throughout Latvia, the Baltic region and beyond. BPI is the initiative of the Union of Baptist Churches in Latvia.

The Project

Teaching English to Future Church Leaders

Many Latvian churches, pastors, and church planters are developing ongoing relationships and partnerships with churches in English-speaking contexts. Therefore, the need to speak English is vital to the development of such relationships. Also, English is needed in order to study theology and related topics from English texts, although some have been translated into the Latvian language. Finally, the perceived need for English language study is greater now than ever as even Christian work is becoming more global. Much emphasis within the Union of Baptist Churches in Latvia is placed upon traveling outside Latvia to attend conferences, seminars, and other forms of training for pastors, church leadership, and church planters. English is the preferred language spoken at such training events.
